About Pan Gongqiao

Pangong Bridge is located at the intersection of Tiao River and Feixi River in the north gate of Huzhou. It was originally Pan Jixun, a water conservancy expert in the Ming Dynasty and Minister of Industry, Punishment and Soldiers, who donated 2,500 taels of silver to build the five-hole stone beam bridge in the thirteenth year of Wanli (1585) to inherit his father's ambition. It took five years to be completed in the eighteenth year of Wanli (1590). In the 20th year of Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty (1840), due to the rapid flow of water, it was rebuilt into a three-hole stone arch bridge in order to increase the amount of water discharge. The bridge is 57.5 meters long, with a main hole clear span of 15.5 meters. It adopts the vertical joint and parallel section construction method. The bridge deck is engraved with the words "Fang Shengguan River" and "Rebuild Pan Gong Bridge".
