About Shantou Teochew Opera Art Museum
Shantou Teochew Opera Art Museum is a state-owned special museum located in the Xie Huiru Teochew Opera Art Center (inside the Guangdong Teochew Theater), No. 6 Chaozhou Road, Shantou City. The first phase of the museum was completed and opened on June 11, 2010. The first phase of the exhibition hall covers an area of more than 400 square meters and is divided into three parts: history, art, and people. It displays Teochew opera costumes, props, musical instruments, scripts, etc. through scenes, objects, models, historical materials, etc. The museum collects precious exhibits such as copies of Teochew opera texts from the Ming Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, early audio and video objects, and costumes from Yao Xuanqiu's performance in Jinjing in 1959. Guangdong Chaozhou Theater planned to build the museum in 2009.
