About Puji Temple

Putuo Mountain Puji Temple, also known as Qian Temple, is located at the southern foot of Lingjiu Peak at Baihuading, Putuo District, Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province. It was first built in the second year of Zhenming in Houliang (916). In the 38th year of Emperor Kangxi's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1699), the temple was granted the title of "Pu Ji Group Spirits" and was renamed Puji Temple. The main body of Puji Temple in Putuo Mountain faces south, covering an area of 26,000 square meters. The ancient buildings on the central axis of Puji Temple are the Royal Stele Hall, the Tianwang Hall, the Yuantong Hall and the Sutra Library. Puji Temple is one of the three major temples in Putuo Mountain. Its overall layout adopts the traditional central axis method and makes full use of the terrain to arrange individual buildings.
