About Guan Yin statue
The Nanhai Guanyin Statue in Putuo Mountain is located on the Guanyin Tiao Hill at the southern end of Shuangfeng Mountain in Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province. It stands on the top of the South China Sea, backed by the deep and green purple bamboo forest, and overlooks Zhujiajian across the sea. In 1996, the Putuo Mountain Buddhist Association initiated the construction of the Mount Putuo Nanhai Guanyin Statue for the solemn Bodhisattva dojo and to promote the saintly virtues of the great master. On October 30, 1997, the bronze statue of Guanyin in the South China Sea on Mount Putuo was completed and consecrated. The standing statue of Guanyin in the South China Sea on Mount Putuo is made of a new type of imitation gold and bronze. The bronze statue is a celestial body, neither male nor female, and is the image of "Avalokitesvara Floating on the Sea".
