About Chaoyin Cave
Chaoyin Cave is a sea cave landscape in front of Zizhulin Temple in the southeast of Putuo Mountain Island in Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province. It belongs to Putuo Mountain Scenic Area and is adjacent to Guanyin Temple. The cave is half submerged in the sea, about 30 meters deep. There are two natural gaps "skylights" at the top. The cliff is engraved with the stone inscription "Chaoyin Cave" written by Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. It is named because the sound of the waves is like thunder when it comes in. On a clear day, you can see the wonder of rainbow. It is listed as the "Ancient Cave Chaoyin" among the twelve scenic spots in Mount Putuo. Next to the cave, there are the "Stele for Prohibiting Sacrifice and Burning Fingers" of the Ming Dynasty and the Qing Dynasty "The Precept of Sacrifice". During the Song and Yuan Dynasties, it was a holy place for believers to worship Guanyin.
